I am passionate about adult learning and committed to achieving social and economic justice. My competencies in management, organizational development and adult education are leveraged to increase the management skills and leadership abilities of folks who manage and serve the public good. These competencies are manifest in my design and delivery of executive coaching, group facilitation and workplace learning programs (NYC Citywide Learning & Development, 200+ agencies). Along with multi-lingual abilities (English, Spanish, French & basic Portuguese), competencies and networks are leveraged to support social transformation by increasing the leadership & management skills of international social change actors.
Professional life is an exhilarating journey resulting in 15+yrs experience serving the needs of local communities and marginalized populations on behalf of large organizations. As President & Founder of Futures Today Consulting I dedicate substantial energy & focus to working with NGO’s serving marginalized women and children in Lima, (Nuna Lab), Nairobi, (Kito International) and most recently El Factor, Dominican Republic, (Buena Idea). Buena Idea is our latest initiative it addresses the need for economic opportunities for women and children by training teachers and children (6-12 yrs. old) on entrepreneurship principles. In 2010, I was named as a Rotary Peace Fellow at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand where I lived for a semester.
Learning communities bring us together, whether it’s a small community in rural Latin America or a university classroom in Asia. I have taught courses in non-profit management at City University of New York’s, Baruch College, and organizational behavior at Adelphi University’s Masters in Social Work program, to name a few. I love it when the “lights” in the learners’ eyes goes on. It’s an exhilarating experience!
