Jaana Rehnström, MD MPH, trained as a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology. A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Helsinki, Finland, she completed her specialization at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. Involvement with the Finnish section of Amnesty International during her student days laid the foundation for life-long human rights activism. In 2015, she retired and founded the New York City-based nonprofit, The Kota Alliance, a hub and incubator of women entrepreneurs and startup organizations working on all issues related to gender equality and women’s empowerment, locally and globally.
