A moment to express a FEARLESS THANK YOU!

“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.”

-Jimmy Carter

Hi friend!

I know that I’ve been on a bit of a roll, sending out my Fearless Monday Minutes. It is President’s Day in the United States, and I’m going to pause to honor the legacy of Jimmy Carter who entered hospice care this past weekend.

In 1995, I had the privilege to travel to Japan and Guam with the Penn Glee Club. For the programs that were made for our concerts throughout Japan, they asked all of the students to reflect on our most respected person. I was surprised with the name that emerged. And the more I thought about it, the more it felt right to choose him.

My answer was Jimmy Carter.

He is a man who built a life out of being of service. He served the United States in the Navy. He served in an array of local and state political offices including Governor of Georgia and President of the United States. After serving only one term as President, in what many deemed a failure, he was undeterred in continuing to serve. From building houses with Habitat for Humanity, to receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, to the creation of the Carter Center with the purpose of “advancing human rights and alleviating human suffering”, he has lived a life in action trying to make a difference.

Thank you Mr. President for your extraordinary service. We send you, your family, and your community an abundance of love and immense gratitude as you transition.

Rest easy.

Fearlessly yours,

Eduardo

PS- Below are a couple more pictures of him, including a picture of him after receiving 14 stitches for an injury and still showing up to build houses for Habitat for Humanity in Nashville.
